Job Description:

Draw figures/diagrams using Coreldraw

Do chapter layouts using InDesign. Ensure quality of layouts.

Communicate with proof readers

Make proofing corrections recommended by proof reader

Design book cover

Make the book’s final PDF

Ensure transparency of the layout process to other members of the editorial roles through accurate reporting on the weekly status

Be proactive and creative in identifying potential problems regarding production activities on your books and liaise with the relevant people to take appropriate action to solve such problems.

Inform the Editorial Manager in a timely manner on problems that require his/her intervention.

Maintain excellent communication with the EM and editors about the status of books in production.

Liaise with other departments, such as Marketing and Sales, when required.

Be proactive in managing layout issues that have implication for the image of the brand, such as logo visibility in print, book templates etc.

Other tasks

Liaise with with foreign publishers on process of sharing files.

Create mockup Covers for Translated Titles

Update Catalog on Regular Basis

Create PDF files for Marketing as and when required

Liaise with photographers and Project Manager on cover images.

Knowledge of PageMaker, coreldraw, photoshop
